I’m haunted by your lingering presence
I’m plagued by the memories I hold
I wish I did not have them
But I won’t deny or hide them, they are
My own lovely secret treasures
I’m tormented by a ghost of you
I’m overwhelmed by dreams, lost and forgotten
Reminding me of the failure we share
But one I won’t dwell on, they are
My personal lessons learned
I’m troubled with the aftermath of it all
I’m followed by a powerful monster
Whose eyes show me my fears and self-doubt
But I won’t fear the beast, it is
My own weapon to use
I’m burdened with the pain it left
I’m disturbed by the approaching darkness
In which it suffocates and drowns me
But I won’t let it engulf me, it will be
My personal light that drives it back as I leave it behind
